  • Group of friends

The Haus Wartenberg is a quaint b&b located about 10 min walk to the heart of Salzburg. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our stay. We really enjoyed our stay and would book here again.

The breakfast is a little small.

  • Family with children

Good service, nice personelle - and helpful! Sightseeng, eating!

The first dy breakfast was not very good as we came late and both coffee and tee was cold... But hlpful woman rhe second day helped everyone out...

  • Family with children

Found this hotel online as one of the few that would take a family of five plus a dog in one room. No pet fee. Bottom line: it was perfect for what we needed. It is a bed and breakfast type house and actually rather large. It feels like your grandmother's house: ecceltic, antique, a little odd, but very comfortable. Friendly staff, our room was very large (#17). The biggest room I have seen in a hotel in Europe. Location is excellent. Off a quiet street, 10 minute fast walk or 15 minute stroll to Old Town-where you want to be. Lots of storage in the yard or in the rooms if you have gear like strollers, cribs, high chairs, canoes or even bikes. Street parking. Free Breakfast of coffee, bread cereals etc. Two thumbs up. .

Street parking had a twist. Have to give the owners your keys so every three hours whe you are out and about they change the clock card in your car so you don't get a parking ticket. Wasn't thrilled about that at first but they provided the service to everyone and it was no big deal.

  • Family with children

Very nice and helpful staff. A very charming building with a pleasant little garden where they served excellent food and wines.

The family room offered by the hotel was placed in the attic and provided lots of floorspace but no headroom.

  • Family with children

The host was very kind, welcoming, considerate and accommodating to the needs of our family. The hotel has a lot of character, big rooms, relatively close to the centre and very quiet. My children loved the garden. I highly recommend it for a family.

  • Older travelers

After getting lost within half a block of the hotel due to one way streets and not being able to make a u turn, a friend of the family who was the operations manager came with his bicycle to show us the way to the hotel. The wonderful fellow put us under his wing, suggesting the best of Austrian beer, wine and foods, which made our stay very unique. This wonderful fellow was and is a great samaritan to travelers. He makes traveling fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Couple

The staff are so friendly, making us feel like home! The whole building was over 400 years old, an antique in itself! and of course all the furnitures! The hotel prepared us roses for free!! They also invited us two glasses of champagne knowing that we are on honey moon trip! Also, the restaurent makes nice dishes!!

It's close to Hohen castle, but not to the city center.

  • Family with children

Very accommodating and friendly staff. Location was quiet. Good food in the restaurant at dinner.

Wireless and tv didn't work in rooms. Strong musty smell. It was about a 20 minute walk into city center.

  • Family with children

Charming old building, friendly helpful staff, spoke English fluently (with family visiting from usa), got us an extra room when they saw our family was actually 4 adults. Lots of hot water for showers/baths, plenty of electric outlets. We ate in the nonsmoking room of the restaurant one night, all 4 of us loved what we ordered, and waiter started a fire in the fireplace just for us, and told us the story of how this is also a language school. The owner helped us change our reservation on "The Sound of Music" tour when it looked like rain, and got them to pick us up right at the curb. It was nice to walk "through the mountain" to this neighborhood, much quieter than staying right in "old town". Near a grocery and several other restaurants too, or can eat outside on a clear day. Breakfast included in our reservation was ample: meats, cheese, rolls, thin slices of bread, yogurt and muesli, nutella, coffee, teas. Taxis right out front in the morning to take us to our train (10 euros) or we could have walked to bus line.

If you have trouble walking, you would need a taxi, it's maybe 10-15 minutes to walk from the festival site. Inside the stairs are steep from floor to floor. Make sure they know if you are all adults; first night they didn't realize and two of us slept on sort of fold-out futons on a bed frame.

The atmosphere of the hotel is perfect for a city like Salzburg. The building is traditional as is the furniture, the food and the service. The staff were wonderful with the effort they provided to help make my stay in Salburg a really enjoyable one. The owners of the hotel are very knowledgable about the history of salburg and provided me with a lot of interesting information. I loved it! Based upon my stay I will definitely be returning to Salburg and this hotel next year.

    I liked everything.

  • Family with children

The hotel was clean and quiet and the staff was very friendly. The location was excellent, we could walk right into the old city within 10 minutes.

Parking in front of the hotel was a bit limited, but this would not impact our decison to stay here.

  • Family with children

Haus Wartenberg provided a nice quaint place to say for our family of two adults and three children. Rooms were comfortable. A family run B&B, the owners were helpful and spoke English. A good traditional Austrian Breakfast (rolls, meat, cheese, jam, nutella, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee, cereal etc) came with the room booking. We also enjoyed purchasing dinner in the restaurant as well. We felt the location was good - we were able to walk into the city center with a 15-20 minute walk. There was parking along the street near the B&B and Haus Wartenburg provided a parking pass. We would stay here again.

  • Family with children

My family (me, my husband, and our two daughters) stayed at Haus Wartenberg in mid-March. We had a tremendous stay. From start to finish (lodging, food, service) it was perfect and we would highly recommend Haus Wartenberg to anyone visiting Salzburg; it was a great walk from the house to downtown Salzburg. Thanks to everyone there for making our visit so nice.

    We loved everything!

Classic vintage style Austrian house with all the warmth and friendliness you would expect from our alpine cousins. Having stayed in many B&Bs in and around Salzburg, Haus Wartenburg would be the first place I would recommend to friends. Taxi rank just 50 metres and bus stops 100 metres from the door. Many restaurants nearby, but make sure you eat in the on site restaurant, as Johannes and his team select and prepare some of the most delicious local cuisine. Five stars all round from me!
